TradeChat Code of Conduct
Version 1.0 (Effective Date: October 6, 2026)
Welcome to TradeChat
TradeChat is the Onlinetradesmen business community for trade professionals to share jobs and referrals, exchange advice and experience, discuss the day-to-day challenges of running a trade business, make useful recommendations and support other members of the community.
TradeChat is operated by Feely Consulting Limited trading as Onlinetradesmen and forms part of the Onlinetradesmen Service.
This Code of Conduct supplements our Business User Terms & Conditions and General Terms of Use. If there is any inconsistency, the Business User Terms apply in priority to Business Users.
1. Be Professional and Respectful
TradeChat is intended to be an open, useful and constructive professional community. When participating, please:
- Treat other members with respect and professional courtesy;
- Share information and opinions honestly and in good faith;
- Keep discussions relevant and useful to the trade community;
- Respect different opinions and experiences;
- Use appropriate language and avoid behaviour that could reasonably be considered threatening, abusive, intimidating or harassing.
2. Sharing Jobs, Referrals and Recommendations
TradeChat may be used to share potential work, referrals, recommendations, business experience and other professional opportunities between Business Users.
Any arrangement entered into between Business Users as a result of TradeChat is solely between those Business Users. Onlinetradesmen does not become a party to, supervise or guarantee any such arrangement, referral, subcontract, recommendation, payment or resulting work.
You are responsible for carrying out your own checks before relying on a recommendation, engaging another Business User, accepting work or entering into any commercial arrangement.
3. Customer and Personal Information
Take particular care when discussing Customers, jobs or other individuals.
- Do not publicly post unnecessary personal information about Customers or other individuals;
- Do not share confidential information without appropriate authority;
- Only share Customer information where you have a lawful reason to do so;
- Where possible, use non-identifying information when discussing jobs or seeking general advice.
You remain responsible for your own compliance with applicable data-protection, confidentiality and professional obligations.
4. What Should Not Be Posted
TradeChat must not be used to post or distribute:
- Illegal, fraudulent or deliberately misleading content;
- Defamatory material or unsubstantiated allegations about identifiable individuals or businesses;
- Threats, harassment, hate speech or discriminatory abuse;
- Spam, repetitive advertising or unsolicited commercial solicitation;
- Malware, malicious links or content intended to compromise another user or the Service;
- Content which infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy or other legal rights;
- Confidential Customer, business or third-party information which you are not entitled to disclose.
5. Promotion and Competing Services
TradeChat exists to support the Onlinetradesmen trade community and should not be used primarily to advertise, promote, solicit for, recruit users to, or direct members towards competing trade marketplace, lead-generation or similar platform services.
Genuine incidental references to third-party products, suppliers, software or services as part of a relevant professional discussion are permitted provided they are made in good faith and are not spam, undisclosed promotion or an attempt to use TradeChat principally as a marketing channel.
6. Account and Service Issues
TradeChat is not a customer support or service channel. Account or service-related questions, issues, feedback or complaints should not be posted in TradeChat and should instead be directed through the Help & Support section so they can be properly recorded, investigated and dealt with by the appropriate team.
We may redirect, close or remove posts whose primary purpose is obtaining account support or resolving an Onlinetradesmen service issue. This does not affect your right to raise a complaint or concern through the appropriate support, contractual or legal channel.
7. Moderation
TradeChat is moderated to help maintain a professional, lawful and useful community.
We may use a combination of automated or AI-assisted moderation tools and human review to identify, classify or flag content that may breach this Code, our Terms or applicable law.
Automated systems may assist our moderation process, but a flag does not necessarily mean that content has breached the rules. Human review may be used where appropriate, particularly where a moderation decision requires context or may materially affect a Business User.
We do not undertake to pre-screen or monitor every message or post before it appears.
Where reasonably appropriate, we may:
- Remove or restrict access to a post or message;
- Close, lock or restrict a discussion;
- Redact personal, confidential or otherwise inappropriate information;
- Issue a warning or guidance to a Business User;
- Temporarily restrict access to TradeChat;
- Permanently withdraw access to TradeChat for serious or repeated breaches; or
- Take further action under the Business User Terms where the conduct also constitutes a serious or repeated breach of those Terms.
Wherever appropriate, moderation measures will be applied proportionately having regard to the nature, seriousness and frequency of the conduct concerned.
8. User-Generated Content
Posts, messages, recommendations, opinions and other material submitted to TradeChat are provided by individual Business Users and do not represent the views, recommendations or endorsements of Onlinetradesmen.
You are responsible for content you submit and must ensure that you have the rights and permissions necessary to post it.
You retain ownership of your content. By posting to TradeChat, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, moderate and otherwise process that content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure and administer TradeChat and the Onlinetradesmen Service.
9. Reporting Content
If you believe content breaches this Code, you may report it using the reporting functionality provided within TradeChat where available.
If you believe content is illegal, or where an in-app reporting option is not available, you may report it using our contact form.
Reports should identify the relevant content and explain clearly why you believe it breaches this Code or applicable law.
10. Moderation Decisions
Where content or access is restricted, we may provide the affected Business User with information about the reason for the action where appropriate and required by applicable law.
Where an applicable review or appeal process is available, details will be provided with the relevant moderation decision or through our General Terms of Use.
11. Changes to This Code
We may update this Code to reflect changes to TradeChat, our community standards, legal requirements or our moderation processes.
Material changes will be notified in accordance with the applicable Business User Terms.
Agreement to the Code
By clicking “Agree & Continue”, you confirm that you have read and agree to comply with this TradeChat Code of Conduct and acknowledge that your use of TradeChat is also governed by the Business User Terms & Conditions and General Terms of Use.
